PDO Threads
Stimulate collagen production for tighter, firmer and more youthful-looking skin
This long-lasting treatment tightens the skin while boosting collagen production to fight the signs of ageing. Biocompatible sutures are threaded throughout the treatment area to tighten your skinโs appearance. The sutures also trigger the bodyโs natural healing response, stimulating increased collagen production for softer, more supple skin.
What are PDO Threads?
PDO Threads are sutures used to tighten the skin and provide a support structure for natural collagen production. These sutures are made from a synthetic polymer that has been used safely for a long time in the medical and pharmaceutical industries.
The threads tighten your skin for a firmer, younger-looking complexion and stimulate collagen production to improve elasticity and suppleness. Slowly dissolved and absorbed by the body, the threads are biodegradable and donโt create scar tissue.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are PDO Threads made from?
PolyDiOxanone (PDO) is a synthetic polymer (a type of sugar molecule) that is colourless and crystalline. Itโs been used in the medical and pharmaceutical industry for many years because itโs extremely safe to use in the body. This material has excellent biocompatibility, is biodegradable and doesnโt create scar tissue.
Whatโs the difference between a PDO Thread and a PDO Thread Lift?
PDO Threads treat skin quality while a PDO Thread Lift has long barbed threads to lift and pull skin tissue. PDO Threads can be used throughout the face, dรฉcolletage and body to encourage skin tightening through collagen stimulation.
Is the PDO Threads treatment painful?
The treatment starts by applying a numbing cream and injecting a numbing solution into the treatment site. This ensures you remain comfortable during the treatment and only experience minimal pain. Tenderness is also common for a few hours following treatment.
When should I see the results from this thread lift treatment?
You should begin to see results in 6 weeks and notice more improvement over the next 2 to 6 months as new collagen is produced in the treated area. Although the threads will slowly dissolve, you should continue to see benefits for up to 12 months.
How many PDO Thread treatments will I need?
The number of treatments will depend on your response to treatment and your desired outcome. As the threads are designed to dissolve slowly over time, you may have to repeat the treatment every 12 months to maintain its benefits.
What skin concerns benefit from a thread lift?
PDO Threads address skin laxity and sagging skin in the face, neck and body. Giving the skin a firm, tight appearance, itโs also effective in reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
What are the possible side effects of PDO Threads?
Expect tenderness, swelling and bruising in the treatment area following your session. This usually resolves within a few days but can take a little longer for some people.
How long does this thread lift take?
Depending on the size of the treatment area, most PDO Thread sessions last between 40 and 60 minutes (including 20 minutes to numb the treatment area).
Who should avoid using PDO Threads?
This treatment is safe for people between the ages of 25 and 60, however, this thread lift is not recommended for people with:
- bleeding disorders
- certain auto-immune diseases
- uncontrolled diabetes.
